Recent releases:

Miroslav Tadic and Vlatko Stefanovski with Theodosii Spassov (kaval): "Treta majka"
We're very happy to announce our new CD which was recorded in April, 2004 in Skopje, Macedonia with the help of our friend and phenomenal Bulgarian musician Theodosii Spassov. We utilized classical, flamenco, steel string and baritone guitars and combined them with Theodosii's kaval in a program of traditional Macedonian dances and songs. We also included a dance from Turkey. The CD was released in Macedonia in October of 2004, and we're working on European and North American distribution.

Mark Nauseef, Miroslav Tadic and Walter Quintus with Wadada Leo Smith (trumpet) and Katja Quintus (spoken word): "Snakish"
A work which consists of 14 pieces that thoroughly defy classification. Drums, bells, trumpet, classical and baritone guitars and spoken word are combined with Walter's processing and sound-sculpting to create sonic spaces of great uniqueness, dimensionality and beauty. "Snakish" was released by Leo Records at the end of May 2005.

This long overdue recording, made in January of 2001 at WDR in Cologne, Germany, has finally been prepared for release. The 52 minute composition of Mark's provides a solid structure and direction for improvising by a group of some of our favorite musicians and dear friends. It is a result of a week of intense rehearsing and music-making together, and another piece which defies all of the common musical categories.

Miroslav Tadic and Dusan Bogdanovic: " Migrations" (15 improvisations for two guitars)
On November 16, 2003 we spent an afternoon in San Francisco improvising and recording. After sorting through about four hours of recorded material we ended up with 15 pieces. Although they were all completely improvised, many of them sound through-composed. We're delighted with the result, especially since we haven't recorded together since 1992. "Migrations" is awaiting release on Gramofon label.

Other news:

Nauseef was included in this year's edition of The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. Click here to see that entry.

During the summer of 2005, Miroslav was asked to join The Grande Mothers Reinvented, a group dedicated to performing the music of Frank Zappa. The band features Don Preston (keyboards, vocals), Roy Estrada (bass, vocals) and Napoleon Murphy Brock (lead vocals, woodwinds), who spent many years playing with Zappa and were all a part of Mothers of Invention at one point or another (Estrada is a founding member of that group). Today these legendary musicians, along with the drummer Chris Garcia, play Zappa's music with tremendous passion, dedication and experience, so Miroslav joined them in October. After several months of intensive rehearsals, the group played its first concerts with Miroslav in Los Angeles and on a tour of Norway in April 2006, followed by a tour of the Balkans in November. More concerts are coming in 2008.
